Hi! I'm Anne Fiskaali

I'm a scientist, psychologist, and published author

LinkedIn <-- this is where you'll find me.

— Expert on the "now what" of science

For real world impact, it's not enough to answer the research questions. Throughout my career, I've honed my skills in bridging the gap from knowledge to action: "Now that we know this - then what?". Asking the right kind of "now what"-questions turns data into people and stories, forging a path for action.

I am particularly motivated by figuring out how to improve people's lives through play, especially digital play.

A mum and wife

A waffle-loving one

Mother to two children, Elliot (6) and Ivy (3). They've made me more patient and a better communicator. We share a profound love of all things sweet, especially waffles.

Married to my best friend and the love of my life, Bálint. He doesn't like waffles as much. I consider this a bonus.

"We often think of digital games as tools: for keeping in touch with friends, to unwind, to escape. But games aren't meant to be mere tools - they are meant to be fantastically fun and played simply for that reason. No one should need an excuse to play"

— Can Worried Parents Predict Effects of Video Games on Their Children?

An experiement exploring whether worried parents of gamers actually had a reason to be worried. They didn't. Gaming is important to many children and adolescents, but parents and grown-ups are riddled with worry over the zombie-shooting, fort-building, pet-caring hobby. It underscores the need for parents to acknowledge children's right to play, but also how to spot when gaming becomes an unhealthy coping mechanism.
